Damn! beaten to the post by a millionth of a billionth of a degree!
That formula was on the tip of my tongue for ages .. but I added a +2 at the end, where he used +1.
Couldn't work out why my formula made the edges of the images less sharp than expected.
Doh!
:p
Saying that 'it's all Greek to me' would be meaningless(as I have a Greek heritage anyhow, and the occassional Greek phrase does register :D) .. so it's all astropneumatic rocket surgery to me.
As long as it makes cheaper lenses ... :th3:

Rick often expect a humorous kicker with these posts:), this appears legit what a patent application to have, not that would necessarily worry a lot of companies royalty wise if the CSIRO's experience with developing WIFI is anything to go by.
My grandfather told me he had an uncle that was a ship's captain teaching navigation in Sydney if my memory is correct. He and one of his friends in Australia worked out a way to accurately locate ships at sea by tracking radio signals, a big deal at the time and they sent their patent application to England to an English "friend" who ended up doing the Alexander Bell trick and put his name on the patent, it appears you can't trust anybody:)
cheers Nick
