Hi All, I am a new member based in Darwin. I recently contributed to an exhibition in ACT at the Photo Access Community Space. As part of the exhibition I planned to reprint some 6x7 B&W negs from 1992 but could not find a darkroom in the NT to use.
This made me think about setting up my own darkroom and offer it to other interested parties here in the NT. Second problem where to find an enlarger? This proved to be very difficult and I found myself feeling very sad that all the wonderful equipment is not around anymore and worse still maybe in landfill!
I did manage to locate a Durst 601 in Tasmania and had it shipped up here for future use. I also found an Opemus 5 at the recycling deport of the the local dump (for $15).
I do however need to get hold of a Beseler 45 or Devere 4x5 to cover all my future requirements. I will post in Classified to see if anyone knows where I might get hold of one.
I have been a pro for 30 years starting my career in Darwin and later moving to Sydney working with [Edit: a firm there], setting up a full colour pro lab in Alice Springs and moving to South East Asia working freelance before moving to Adelaide and then to PNG working in Cultural Heritage management and community development.
I now live in Darwin and work for the NT Public Service in Communications. I use Nikon Digital and Mamiya film cameras.
My [Edit: photographic] website for interest is: http://www.sanida.com.au/index.php/photography
Thanks you
