The Ghan (https://www.sbs.com.au/guide/article/2017/12/12/slow-tv-comes-sbs-ghan-australias-greatest-train-journey) on SBS recently?

Terrific videography - muchly by drones, I would guess.

Catch up - register here first. (https://www.sbs.com.au/programs/the-ghan)

How it was done. (https://www.sbs.com.au/guide/article/2017/12/12/how-we-made-ghan-australias-greatest-train-journey?cx_navSource=related-side-cx#cxrecs_s)

Several of my family went on the Ghan about 3 months ago and were less than impressed at all. They said that the price of the trip compared to the service provided, it did not match up at all. Between meal times, they said the restaurant/cafe cars were empty. No staff around at all, so you could not get a coffee or a treat. The bar car was empty as well during the day, so even if you wanted a soft drink, let alone a wine or beer, you could not find staff to assist. They enjoyed the actual train and the trip/scenery, but said they would never recommend it to anyone.

(I meant for the unusual travelog presentation.)

Yes, Am.

We are at Katherine ATM (recorded it). Really like the methodology - no inane commentary; no horrid Muzak type music (drowning out the 'voice-under').

I'm thinking of doing the long trip (4 parts?) with side trips, flights etc. We can't both go at once as we have our two furry 18 y.o. 'children' to care for. No kennels possible, as one of our girls was previously seriously traumatized by a couple of weeks in a fantastic cattery. They are litter mates, and the other one wasn't affected in the slightest - go figure!

My thoughts exactly on the way it would have been if made "in the usual way".
It was rather a "re-live" of last year's road trip (though to the Centre).

No doubt it took a lot of hard work to do. But ended up as boring as all hell.
Couldn't watch any more than 10-15 minutes.

Ross.
