i have just got home after 2 weeks in Japan
while there i bought a Pentax 28 - 105 lens for the k1. until then all i had was the 18-250 crop from the k7
no point in having 36 megapixels if you can't use the all
this is the first image i took with the lens.
we were in our hotel room, taken with available light with bit of ETTR
the k1's ability to handle noise amazes me
cheers

Good result. Just this very evening I've been sorting through photos from my long weekend away and there's a few shots of the kids inside (thanks, rain, lol) ranging from ISO 5000 - 6400 and I can already tell they're going to need a lot of work. Very grainy. There seems to be a little bit in the wall if I look really close, but otherwise, looks like a pretty damn good result. Hope you had a good two weeks, and looking forward to seeing some pics of the Japanese wilderness. ;)

thanks for your comments Geoff.
didn't take a lot of shots, i think there are a few above average
will start going trough them today
cheers
Certainly not grainy - I think your use of ettr has also helped. I've found with my Nikon, so long as it's ettr and I don't crop too hard it handles high ISO well. But, if I have to raise the shadows, noise really starts to pop out then.
