Having overheard on TV a satirised line from a song, it then stuck in my head all evening:umm:
As heads work, hours later I recalled the next line: "...Look away! Look away!... Dixie Land...":th3:

So I called upon Brer Google and regaled myself (it was late at night:nod:) with various versions of the
song. Of the half dozen renditions I assayed - a couple of unknown artists, Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan,... -
the version I found most enjoyable - well, evocative - was this one, (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__kQX12S9YI) which you may also "enjoy",
or stamp your feet to, or join in and jive with... (I did none of these:cool:)

Anyway, an interesting take on the origins of this song - the Anthem of the South - places it in the
Deep North (Manhattan) on a plantation owned by a J Dixie (see hereabouts). (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dixie_(song))

...As it happens sometimes:nod: - And then it was very late!!

Oh noooo. It's running around in my head already. That's quite an infectious rendition :D

I saw Dixie and the first thing that pops into my head is that old Doobie Brothers song, Black Water.
Can't get the ending of that dong out of my head now!

thanks Am!! :lol2:
