Having overheard on TV a satirised line from a song, it then stuck in my head all evening:umm:
As heads work, hours later I recalled the next line: "...Look away! Look away!... Dixie Land...":th3:
So I called upon Brer Google and regaled myself (it was late at night:nod:) with various versions of the
song. Of the half dozen renditions I assayed - a couple of unknown artists, Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan,... -
the version I found most enjoyable - well, evocative - was this one, (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__kQX12S9YI) which you may also "enjoy",
or stamp your feet to, or join in and jive with... (I did none of these:cool:)
Anyway, an interesting take on the origins of this song - the Anthem of the South - places it in the
Deep North (Manhattan) on a plantation owned by a J Dixie (see hereabouts). (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dixie_(song))
...As it happens sometimes:nod: - And then it was very late!!
