Just a little heads up on this product. There is an "opt out" clause in the Terms and Conditions which requires you to cancel your subscription, or it will automatically renew at the new current rate. If you subscribed to this at the special discount rate twelve months ago, you're in for an unpleasant surprise in your email. Cancelling after you receive the paid invoice notification does not entitle you to a refund, merely cancellation of the next renewal. There was no notification from AVG prior to the automatic renewal which would have enabled me to cancel before renewal, so I'm pasting a link that came after the renewal which will allow others to avoid being clipped like me.

I found the software largely ineffective, but at the special price of $9.95, I wasn't too worried about that. The renewal price is USD$49.99 or5 AUD$74.99 (according to my PayPal account) and a waste of money IMHO. If you subscribed to the initial offer, the time to cancel is now before the renewal goes through automatically. The software will continue to work until the expiry of the initial subscription period.

I used AVG many years ago but came to the conclusion that it created as many problems as it solved. It let a bug through that effectively killed my one and only hard-drive. I now have five with multiple back-ups.

I've been using Windows Defender since without a problem and do my own 'tune-ups'.

It gets worse. I just checked my PayPal account and see they have charged me twice. Once at USD$49.99 and the second time at AUD$49.99. They advertise the product on their website at AUD$47.99.

Glary Utilities is my goto clean-up App. I have not used AVG for years cause I found it was not as good as it used to be. Once it was THE anti-virus software.

Have a look at this.... Is this anyway to treat a customer? AUD$49.99 for a renewal for 12 months, and if I cancel as I just did, they'll sign me up again for 12 months for.....AUD$32.39. Who could make this up?

Sounds like phone/internet companies. Who offer special deals to new customers, that their existing loyal customers cannot access.

Well, seeing as how I've given them a spray here, I might as well report that one refund has been processed and hopefully the second will follow. :D

Already done that, but yes it's good advice for others.
