Best Tripod

Would love to hear what Tripods people are using, Manfrotto, Slik, Velbon etc.

I have a Manfrotto at the moment but it is not very sturdy and is quite heavy to carry around if you are doing a lot of walking.

I would like to know which is the lightest most user friendly Tripod available.

I have a Manfrotto MK393-H that I bought because it is relatively light, compact and travel friendly. It is sturdy enough for my needs. It could be a little taller but that is the trade off for being compact.

I think mine is a compact Tripod as well so it is a little short me which is a nuisance.

I use a Gitzo 3 series systematic as my main tripod and a Benro 2 series as my travel tripod. Both of them are excellent tripods.

My 5 series Gitzo carbon fibre tripod usually gets the gig when I'm using heavy telephoto lenses. My wife's 3 series Gitzo CF is quite a stable tripod and is what we take when travelling OS.
We avoid anything with a centre column and use good quality heads and plates.

Currently have a Gitzo 3542XLS which has been excellent. I'm looking to pick up a second tripod and think I'll upgrade a little and go for a RRS TVC-44

Benro is a fairly good copy of the Gitzo. If you can afford Gitzo, it's the best option, but Benro provides a good alternative.

I've got a Velbon Sherpa 200R which is a nice balance between weight and sturdiness. For travel I've got a small Manfrotto Compact Action which is light and packs down to less than 50cm which means it can (usually) fit in hand luggage.
