Good closeup, we had one in our yard once but by the time I got my camera it had gone....:confused013
I read afterwards that they are attracted to blue flowers.....I havn't seen one here since

Good to see those Bees, we have them up here and I have managed to get a few shots over the years.
As mentioned above they do prefer the many different shades of blue flowers.
Best of luck with those nest blocks, when you get around to making them.

SOMETHING I WILL BE DOING IN THE NEAR FUTURE

I have just built two bee nest boxes on the weekend. Two blocks of hardwood screwed together, then drill a series of 10mm holes 150mm long into them.
We have the blue banded bees as well as a couple of different carpenter bees, the great and the metallic.
