A number of reviews have already been posted:

But that price of USD2,500 is steep and I hope the price in OZ is not based on today's exchange rate! :(
Cheers

Digidirect have it at $3386 and every year after Christmas they have a 10% off everything sale that would bring it down closer to $3000. Just need to wait another year.

Sorry to see that you were not the Qld Winner of the $70 million Brad. I had already decided not to buy it when I read a few months back what the price could be.
Seeing I dont go out Bird Shooting anymore except to the beach and I can still hand hold my Canon gear for backyard Birds with the 300mm f/4 on it I am happy enough.

I don't think I need it either . If I win enough money in a few photography comps to pay for it , I might buy it , but I don't plan to get into birding so it would not get much use.

I personally would use a zoom more, but I can't help drooling a little over this lens, but that's about all I'll be able to do though, not being able to justify that sort of expenditure on a lens. I think I would like the Leica 100-400mm F4-6.3 tele-zoom lens but that may well be stretching the budget too much too (more like stretching the marriage friendship if I spent that much). A lot of the birds come to me at home (& possums too) & the ZD50-200 SWD lens gets used a fair bit as well as the M.ZD75-300 lens when I want reach & compactness in good light.
