Hi everyone,

I have a Canon PowerShot SX700hs. It is a compact camera with the dial to change from auto/manual/Av/TV etc.. I am looking forward to learning how to get out of auto mode with this camera and perhaps invest in a DSL at Christmas. I would love to be able to take some great photos of my Grandchildren. Also have a go a Macro....
I have only taken photos just of our Family Life and general holiday snaps.

The best way to learn is to get out and try things for your self. Then when it all goes wrong or you are just not sure you have a network here that are more than willing to help.

Hello and Welcome to AP.. We all have to start somewhere and there is lots to learn here have a read of the New to Photography Book (http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/showlibrary.php?title=Indexes:New_To_Photography_Book) thats the best way to start.
If you want to get off Auto, put your camera on another setting Av is a good one and give that a go, plenty of info on the link above.
You can also post some images on the Forums for cc, it's another way to learn, and do have a go at commenting at other Members posts.
