Had the 5dMkiii for 3 years now and have had approx 50k + in shutter actuations
apart from appearing quite used (worn paint & scuffed in several places) is there any advantage in sending to Canon Aust for a "service and refurb" and does any one have an idea as to cost/time and what they will carry out?
It is still working well although I do suspect it has incurred some "damage" along the way ( dropped several times and exposed to quite arduos conditions)
Thanks

Me, I'd let sleeping dogs lie and not let Canon touch it until you run into some problems. :)

Give Canon a call and explain its condition and that you are considering a 50k service, and what might it cost. Also ask how long it would take, cause you might find you are without it for a month or two.

Once you know all the info, then you can decide. Hard to make a decision without having all the info.

My 5d3 has even more actuations and I haven't even thought about sending it in.
Mind you, my camera is in pretty good condition considering of where and how often I use it.

I treat things by the old adage, "If it ain't broke don't mess with it".
I though I read somewhere that Canon expected at least 100K shutter activations without problems.....could be wrong though.
