Hi all, just a short introduction as a new member on this site. I have recently got back into photography after about a 15 year break - so used to work with film cameras. We have always had a small digital camera but nothing that grabbed our fancy. So now we have some real cameras with lenses that are heavy as hell and into bird photography, wondering what bank we have to rob :) to get the latest 800 mm lens or the 300-800mm lens and a decent tripod as the one I have can barely support the 100-400 lens. We are both shooting with canon cameras.

Regards and greetings
Steve and Susan

Hi Steven and Susan.
Welcome to AP. Join the club of heavy equipment owners/luggers.

Based on what you say, though, I would class you as Intermediate rather than Beginner.

Anyway, join in and enjoy. Look in the Library - tabs everywhere - for lots of interesting info.

Am.

Welcome aboard, looking forward to seeing your photos and I agree with Am, in that you are not a beginner. So congrats we have upgraded you to intermediate level

Thanks guys, still learning the new functions digital cameras can supply, a little different to the old manual cameras. Some a lot easier but other make it easier for my fat fingers to mess up the settings completely - thank goodness for saved presets makes it easier to go back to a fixed setting that you know.
