Hi everyone, a friend and environmental scientist, Simon Cherriman is doing fascinating research into Australia's largest, majestic bird of prey - the Wedge-tailed eagle. He has spent most of his life studying and observing these magnificent birds and recently he has been using GPS tracking devices and software to monitor their nomadic movements across the greater West Australian arid regions.

Research such as this requires a lot of time and effort from Simon and if you'd like to help out in any way, please go to this site:

In the meantime, check out this video:

He also has his blog: http://www.wedge-tailedeagletracking.blogspot.com.au/

Thank guys! :)

Yeah Simon's doing some extraordinary work - and it's amazing to see these eagles getting up to altitudes of over 6000m! :)

Truly amazing scenes from way up in his bird hide - you wouldn't think he'd need one at 6 foot 8 inches!

I really hope he gets there with his funding - might have to plane a trip out! :)

Thanks Mary Anne, he certainly is! Sadly, I don't think he'll get there - which would be a real shame :(
