I was reading a review in Photoblogger (http://www.thephoblographer.com/2015/06/10/review-leica-q/#.VXnti-tg_P1) of the new Leica Q - just curious to szee what was on offer.

It does indeed sound lovely, but to me it seems to have a very wide lens, 27mm on full frame, and for the princely sum of $US4,250 it is not even weatherproofed!

It IS made in Germany and I have no doubt the build quality is stratospheric, but I don't lust for one.

What do others think?

Well, for being made in Germany, it's price is certainly stratospheric, - a unit short of astronomical, in fact.
This is a camera you speak of in hushed tones - "I've got a Leica Q." - lest you get carted off to debtor's prison.

Oh, about the camera? I'd say it's the 1st of a possible series with narrower fixed lenses, possibly a test version
to see how it takes on. - And if so, they will get cheaper - Moon's orbit pricing.

More about hushed tones: possibly some of those subjects would have said, "Oh, he's got a Leica Q."

Not that far from a camera I suggested in this thread:
http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/showthread.php?111380-What-s-it-worth-to-you

But those digital crops only make sense if you had adequate pixel density to begin with. 24MP gets a bit thin once you crop to m43 or smaller.
But if you started with 36, 42 or 56 MP, then those digital crops will still have a competitive resolution count.

A nice list of reviews from around the globe.

Seems almost universally positive.

Though I didn't see it mentioned being weather proof, page 2 of the Kristian Dowling review has a shot of a wet Q.

Have a Leica kit myself .....and test results vs Canon EOS GEAR ......it's in a different ballpark, state, country, resolution for me at least is simply superb, lens quality simply brilliant. Love the old school feel that I used to have with my old Canon EOS film cameras.
Just my 2 cents...sadly I cannot afford any mores lenses but I don't care....I am big enough to go without. :-)
