Hello,

I am very new to the forums and new to DSLR photography in general. However many years ago I did muck around with a film SLR and had a great time doing so (whilst not producing much of interest). I have just purchased a new Nikon D5500 DSLR and the kit lens with it (Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR II). I have had a healthy read through to instructions and am now down to playing with it. I have also spent a good deal of time researching photographic topics in the Internet as well as reading a few good books.

I am hoping to learn much from these forums and also to contribute whenever I have something worthy.

Your background in photography also sounds interesting, and I would expect that pretty soon you'll
be at Intermediate level.
