View Full Version : Pixel shifting increased resolution
http://www.pentaxforums.com/articles/photo-articles/how-pentax-k-3-ii-pixel-shifting-works.html
The Pentax K-3 II debuts an innovative feature called the Pixel-Shifting Resolution System, a type of super-resolution technology that increases the effective level of detail in images without requiring a higher sensor resolution.
In this article, we will describe the traditional Bayer sensor implementation and compare it to Pentax's new pixel-shifting system. We will also explain how the technology works and what benefits it can deliver to the photographer.
Interesting and sounds quite brilliant

Very interesting indeed. Will be looking forward to hearing some real world comments on this when people start using it.
What I'm hoping for is this tech is in the 35mm sensor camera from :plogo: later in the year

Also: It sort of negates that need for sharpening due to the bayer sensor itself.
if i have read the 'bottom line' section properly, this will only work properly with the camera on a tripod.

so what would happen if hand held with shake reduction off? after all with a tripod shake reduction would/should be off
Looks good.
Olympus are supposed to be doing something also along those lines.

Olympus were first (in the mainstream), plenty of photos on the internet and reviews and articles. I have one and it works well.

Wasn't Hasselblad the first? Then Olympus, then Pentax. And there's a recent Apple patent too but that one shifts the optics rather than the sensor but the idea's the same.
That's why I said 'mainstream' -- the Hasselblad is $45,000 :p
