Hi, I'm Paul. I got a Canon EOS 700D camera as a gift last year and would like to get more into photography and editing. I'm a complete beginner, but looking forward to finding time for some photography.

I would like to take some shots of local sports and my two pets (the new puppy is hard to keep still, so that's going to be tough!).
Also would like to take some nice landscape shots whenever I end up exploring somewhere nice.

Hoping to find some helpful information here!

Paul.

G'day Paul.
You camera has those fully automatic modes that will take some good photos of what you want ATM. (check out P mode). In the long run you'll need to start taking control of the camera as you realise what you and the camera wants. Yep, it takes some time and that puppy will not be a puppy before you consistently get get photos of the now dog without some motion blur.;)
Anyway, some of what is contained here may prove useful eventually ... http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/showlibrary.php?title=Indexes:New_To_Photography_Book. Sometimes slower is faster.
Post photos asking how to improve, make comments on why you like some photos you see here (that actually will help you think as you get better photos), and just generally get involved.
If you need a reason to try different photos as you get used to using your camera, it's never to late to get involved in this years weekly challenge ..... http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/forumdisplay.php?190-Member-Challenges-52-2015 Just keep saying "I'm a bit new to this, what do you think?" or "I quite like this, how could it be better?" That's a good way to start anyway on AP if the weekly members challenge doesn't appeal.
Sorry about the long post, it;s been a long, long day and just wanted to encourage you to get involved here in some way.:confused013
