Hello I am new. I have a Nikon D3100.

Really into wildlife photography. Interested in buying a large lens to get better bird shots. Any reccomendations?

Welcome to AP, and you'll definitely fit in here with many other wildlife lovers. :)

As for the lens, I think it was Tamron or something? that in the more recent years, have released a huge lens for capturing things like wildlife - can't remember what it is though, but this might jog someone else's mind to provide some better recommendations. :P
Generally, anything with 300mm minimum and more is fine. :)

Welcome to AP. Forums work by people getting involved, so hope you do.
Many people who know about gear don't look at these intro post, so maybe try asking your lens question here .... http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/forumdisplay.php?17-Nikon or here http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/forumdisplay.php?120-Lenses

I recently bought a Sigma 120-400 GD and am quite happy. The Canon 100-400L is better, but that comes at a price that a Nikon user does care about.
Don't discount third party lenses as an option these days.
