Hi ausphotography community...

I was given a Canon 500D recently from a friend upgrading.....I am in need of a creative project and thought I will use this gift to create and learn photography skills. I'm thinking a 2015 photo a day project?? this site looks like a great way to get feedback and learn...albeit a little intimidating :) Plan is to use next couple of weeks to learn my way around camera ready to launch 01/01/2015.

To help you...
1) Find your way about and how to do things here, see the Library "How to" section.
2) For leaning about photography, see the New to Photography section, also in the Library.

Hello and Welcome to AP.. Sounds like a good idea to learn your way around the camera first though one photo a day is a big thing and sometimes hard to do.
Yes do have a look on the link above that Rick has put on its another good way to learn, whatever you do is fun here and you will learn lots.
