Hi Ausphotography,
My name is Nick, when I was small I used to use disposable cameras all the time and loved taking pictures of obscure things. My thumb would get soar from winding up that jagged plastic film wheel :p.
When I got older I guess I lost the interest and it wasn't until recently that I purchased a compact camera for the purpose of doing my own product photography at home. I didn't really worry too much about what camera I had, I just wanted something to take a better photo than my phone. So I took took my product photos and was happy with them but then I discovered that my camera had manual controls so I started playing around with the aperture and shutter settings..
I found out about "bokeh", I had a go at light painting and flash photography then I started looking for information on composition, lighting and anything else I could find. Before I knew it I was totally hooked!
I stumbled across this forum while trying to find information on a camera retailer, so here I am! I ordered a D7100 as I was starting to see the limitations of my compact camera and craved better low light performance and burst mode.
Anyway, I'm a fresh newbie to DSLRs and may ask the occasional silly question or two while I work my way through the 'New To Photography' book/forum.
Cheers,
Nick.
