Just released: The GH4's new Live MOS Sensor and Venus Engine team up to reduce noise while raising resolution and improving color reproduction. Innovative DFD technology increases the speed of Contrast AF. As the world's first* DSLM camera to record 4K videos, it truly meets the needs of professionals.
Early reports coming in point to the new GH4 being the new flagship camera for ยต4/3.
It might even provide a toehold for entry to the professional market. With the 7-14 UWA, 12-35 and 35-100 f/2.8 zooms, a lot of pro assignments would be covered, plus the Nocticron for specialist portrait work.
The gap, clearly, is assignments needing longer than 100mm.
I don't make a habit of cross-pollinating forums, but spotted this over on the mu-43 forum & though it of interest
Shows the quality of the stills you can pull from 4k video
pretty impressive. Obviously one also needs a quality lens to achieve these results

Having just purchased a 4K TV, the relevance of 4K is only starting to dawn on me.
I know there's a lack of content atm but I probably only average a new TV set every 8 years or so so I thought I better buy a bit ahead of the curve LOL.
You actually still notice a difference even with up-rezzed 1080p content but to be honest, its not really a big deal. Now what is, is viewing poorer quality video after watching good content. You never had a problem with it until you're used to the higher resolutions.
Its a bit like using retina displays (in Apple speak) and then going back to an old display or being used to any modern high pixel density phone and then looking at an old phone display that you never had an issue with previously.
But in addition to being a beast of a video cam, the GH4's a pretty darn good stills camera from everything that I've read.

That still capture from the video does look impressive. Could be a handy thing for sure when shooting action?
The brief bits of review I've seen about the GH4 it seems almost like people have forgotten it takes stills, the video ability seems to be the bit thing.
