Hi all,
first post here on the forum. I will be asking many of you some tips and feedback in the time ahead. I am relatively new to photography but confident in my abilities with artistic details. I ventured into photography just under a year ago where I purchased an entry level DSLR and some kit lens'. I have just organized investment into some professional gear and am eagerly awaiting its arrival.

Although new to photography I am confident I can contribute to the forum and members. I have a Masters Degree in fine arts where my focus for a decade was on people. I spent many years hand painting photo realistic portraits. I have won relatively prestigious awards and have works currently hanging in many International locations. I also ventured into design gaining a Bachelor of Visual imaging; where I focused on creating a name with 3D organic modelling. Within 3D imaging I have had my works used to advertise the very application we used (Cinema 4D); in photography this would be like having an image used to promote Canon's 1Dx or similar, by Canon. I have also featured in International magazines including having a work make the main cover image. I have also worked on film and television where my old (painted art and 3D imaging) studio partner is currently Weta digital's most senior artist.

That was the past.

My future is with photography. I started to gain interest just prior to my now 20 month old daughter (we now also have an additional 7 month old). I wanted to get a record of my kids as they grow. But my images were not good enough so I upgraded. And I have just upgraded yet again. I have made some great friends in a short period of time within the photography industry. inspiration has been huge and support has been beautiful. I am confident I understand light, composition and artistic concepts well; however I am here to learn further and to support my fellow artists further.

I look forward to gaining some very cool insight into this medium from you. I am currently living in Alice Springs (I am a manger for Bunnings Warehouse through the day).

Cheers, I look forward to meeting you

Damian
