Hello!

Long time member returning (well, I don't think I was that active back in the day either... but I'm back again to lurk!)

I'm not a particularly skilled photographer but I have an interest in certain photo effects (macro, panoramic, etc)!

Hello and Welcome back.. Lurking is interesting in a way though how about joining in and being an active Member..
It does not matter is you are not a skilled photographer we all have to start somewhere, shoot some Macro and post the images on the Forums
Pano's of Tasmania sound good too, so get that camera clicking as there are plenty of us that will help you on any Forum just ask dont be shy.. :2smile:

Staying active is easy and fun, just post an image for CC once a fortnight and
post 2 or 3 CC comments to other images in the same fortnight.

Welcome back, but lurking will just see you go inactive again. Each time you go inactive, the cycle time reduces. So one day soon you will have to post every day, cause every day, your access will be restricted.

Ausphotography is a Forum (which by definition means a place to participate and interact. So start joining in, and your 'not a particularly skilled photographer' might actually change.

But if not, you are welcome to lurk.. and you will again lose access.

When I say here to lurk, I don't intend to do that, but it's usually what ends up happening :)
I have several highly talented photographer friends so it becomes a bit hard to keep enthused when they keep on publishing such great work!My time has also been limited in the last few years due to family commitments. I have a Canon 350D DSLR which doesn't see a lot of use these days. Sadly as camera phones have become better, the old adage "the best camera is the one you always have with you" has become more appropriate.
I'm interested in getting into GoPro/quadcopter cameras (but haven't made the investment yet) and have also pre-ordered a Panono Ball Camera *removed - read the site rules- in particular rules 3-7*. So you could say I'm specialising in some of the more unusual stuff!

Chuq. If your friends want to join, let them do so too. Meanwhile, you've joined, and no doubt that is to better yourself photographically.
Well, here it is: AP, that is. Join in and don't worry about whether your work is "good enough". Participate, and you can hone your photo skill through AP.

Don't worry about what others are doing. If I was to compare what I do with some others, I'd stop taking photos. But that's not why I take photos.;)

Thanks guys.. I'll dust off the 350D and try some of the weekly member challenge themes. I'm also considering getting a tripod to do some time lapse photography. A lot of my long exposure stuff has been with the camera sitting on window sills, ledges or car bonnets!
