Working in and out of Port Hedland for the last five years has certainly been an experience and have seen a few cyclones pass, land and fly over us. Cyclone season is well under way again and we find ourselves with a potentially severe system heading our way once again. And once again I've started this thread to share with the AP community life in a cyclone! :D
BOM's tracking map can be found here: http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDW60281.shtml
Just as well it's the start of my swing and I'm not expected to fly home by the time it hits (unlike my workers!) :D Another plus is that we are finally seeing cloud in the sky!! So to kick it off, here's an image I took just after lunch of that track a few metres away from my office door! WE NEED THE RAIN TOO!!!

I will keep everyone updated on the progress of the cyclone through further information and pictures I will post here!

That's a very interesting soil colour over your way Adam, the carrots must like it..
The rain will be good for the countryside I wish it would rain here..
Take care be safe and I will keep an eye on this thread to see how you are going..

That's the Pilbara reds and oranges for you Mary Anne! Been through quite a few cyclones since I've been working away in the Pilbara over the last five years, always stay safe! :th3:
A Crested pigeon chose to walk because of the wind and eating dust just like me! Waiting for this cyclone, I saw dozens of crested pigeons and finches trying to hold on to the back fence on camp - nearly all the birds have gone to their hidey holes now!

Getting a tad windy over your way.. You have to feel sorry for the Birds well for all creatures Big and Small.
Born in Townsville and back there to live in the early 90's I have been through many Cyclones myself.
Just out of curiosity where is your safe hidey hole, is it in that office ? Thanks for the Update Lads :D

Thank you Mary Anne, we made it through unscathed - my hidey hole was the main administration block which is the emergency shelter! :D
He's a couple of images before and during the cyclone:
