Hi everyone

I am new to this site having just discovered a passion for photography. I am a raw beginner and I am a bit old in the tooth per se but I am looking forward to learning and developing what skills I have.

After a knee replacement last year I found myself back doing arcylic painting which I had done in my youth but despite having brought dvds from an artist in America to relearn techniques, I find myself wanting to create my own masterpieces and the skills are somewhat lacking.

Prior to attending my daughter's recent wedding in Fiji I asked my ex to help me find a camera I could use with my arthritic hands as he is an excellent amateur photographer and he recommended an Olympus Stylus XZ-10. Little did I know that this great little camera would open a passion for taking photos I never knew I had and she is now my new best friend.

After many Photoshop tutorials and visits to different Websites I find myself here, eager to learn and then to take the next step of buying another camera down the track as after following in his footsteps in Fiji and watching him take some superb photos, I am quite envious of his zoom range which unfortunately the XZ-10 doesn't have.

Hello Anjel :action66: and Welcome to AP.. I know that feeling about wanting a better camera I started off with a canon P&S years ago.
It was my love of flowers that made me go further and I am glad I did and since joining AP I have learnt so much.
You will too by posting your images in the Forums for cc that is a great way to learn.. Lots of reading on this :url: (http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/showlibrary.php?title=Indexes:New_To_Photography_Book) when you are ready to go further.

Hi Am

I am just astounded at the information available here, so much reading to be done and knowledge to be learnt.

I have itchy fingers already.

I have a few photos taken from my recent trip to Fiji which were taken on auto with my Olympus can someone tell me if they are ok to show or should I be starting from scratch taking images in RAW.

So much information to still read and I don't want to do the wrong thing.

Anjel

Well, Anjel, I suppose you're talking about the "New to Photography" (http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/showlibrary.php?title=Indexes:New_To_Photography_Book) Library
- or the Library (http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/showlibrary.php) in general.
Practise in the Test Zone, (http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/forumdisplay.php?114-The-Test-Zone) a non-critique forum, and then post some of your (early) pics up in the New to Photography forum. (http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/forumdisplay.php?104-New-To-Photography) (Same name, different areas of AP.)

Ask for help in one of the Help forums: General Help, Shooting Help, etc...

Am.
