Or has heard of a particular poem?

I have been searching hi and low for a poem that I'm sure is Australian.

It's about a (?young) jackaroo or perhaps a roustabout, and that may be its title.

It has a particular line in it - as a refrain I think - that goes:

"...didn't have any opinions, didn't have any idears..."

The spelling of the last word is "idears" in this poem, not "ideas".

The meter of the poem is rather like the line quoted - and it's written with brief, punchy descriptions
of the life and lot of this jackaroo/roustabout.

Fair dinkum! I've been searching everywhere. (Whoever said "Google is your friend...", well, here's news.)

All the tried and trusted poets [of] the stations near and far - have not come down to lend a hand yet!

Yes, I have tried everything. Time to test the knowledge here. I'm sure the name is lurking in someone'e head.

Am(:( so far).

Hi Am - these words or very similar appear in the Slim Dusty song - Middleton's Rouseabout. A bit of Slim's stuff was based on Australian poetry so there might be a clue there.

Cheers
