Anybody else experiencing problems with Mozilla? Mine is running like a dog (not a greyhound) and crashing all the time, especially on my banking site. (NAB)

are you running AVG anti-virus? It used to crash my FF banking site all the time. I ended up making my banking site an exception in AVG and that fixed it. Then I changed anti-virus software.

Yes, I am Rick. I suspected I had a problem with either AVG or Malwarebytes. I uninstalled Malwarebytes. Might have killed the wrong one by the sounds of it. Thanks for that!

I am now using Microsoft Security Essentials as my anti-virus solution. It is free (assuming you are using PC/Windoze)

For once, CAPITAL NO. FF 21 is running fine.
For the last few versions, though, I've had this quirk:
STATUS-4-EVAR is installed and doesn't cause any discernible problems, but DOES NOT WORK.

Yes, call me paranoid, but I have that installed too Rick, and Spybot S&D. Glad to hear you're not having problems AM. You know it's only a matter of time though don't you?:D

It's seems that AVG has a few more problems. I'm now getting a stack of warnings about win32/heri.dropper May all be false positives from what I'm reading. I think I'll follow your lead Rick and uninstall AVG.

You're right. I had been developing an aversion to new versions of FF.
What they should include in FF is a Brick-Wall-Detector add-on.
+1 for MS Security Essentials.
I gave AVG the flick several years ago as I found it to be rather flaky.
Yes I am having trouble signing into my DWI account with FF21. It works fine in other browsers, just not FF. Must try it on the bank.

Can anyone get the "Start Speed Test" button to work on this site using FF21?

PHWrrwhrrffPH! You're right.
Try this one instead. It's the one I use.

Oh, silly him! Forgot to mention, I was in Chrome when it also DIDN'T work.
But now, ditto in FF21. It's the page that's crook. Also does not work on mirror sites.

Thanks AM. I know there are others. Funny that this site works perfectly in IE and Chrome, just not in FF. And there are others too. I wonder what has been screwed up? I've disabled plug-ins too, but it seems to be a FF issue.
Hmmm ... 21 was fine for me I'm now on 22 beta

But Warbler. That's what I said: it DID NOT work in Chrome for me.
Anyway, also found this one:
http://www.speedtest.net/
which gives you ping and upload results as well. And it IDs your ISP.

Works in IE, and in Chrome on my machine AM.
BTW: The AP server is running very fast (low load)

......
Could be an issue with that ozspeed test site's coding too.
THIS (http://speedtest.syd.optusnet.com.au/) one direct from Optus works fine.
Choose your server location preference and it works fine.

It's not the site that concerns me. It's doing the same in Mozilla as my banking site was doing last night. None of the buttons worked. I posted it as an example, rather than post my banking site. ;) As I said before, it works fine in Chrome and in IE, as does my banking site. I've downloaded the Beta version Kym mentioned, and it does the same. I guess I'll just have to use IE for a while.

Yep, gotcha, and I realise that you posted it as an example, but just for the sake of clarity, it's not the actual speed test that is playing up(or broken in any way) it's the link to it via the Ozspeedtest applet.
Most likely a flash problem or something similar to that effect.

Ta, I did an Auto test and got a pleasant:

LOL! Am .. one thing I totally detest is the US type date format
down speed from Melb for me was 101MB/s!!
Sydney was the slowest at 93MB/s tho.
If you're in Sydney, check how well the Brisbane server works for 'ya.
I got 100MB/s from Bris.

Kym.
Are you on NBN?
I'm on cable.
I checked them all today and found Syd still the best, though all others pretty close. Same as what I got yesterday

Pretty impressive results there Arthur. You'd be on cable? Around 20 is the fastest I can get on ADSL.

Yeah, cable. Had an old ... prehistoric cable modem in the SB4100 for a very long time, and wasn't on any plan.
But last Christmas, I decided I needed more bandwidth, so agreed to sign up to a new plan. They sent me a new cable modem, and also then explained that I'll be instantly upgraded to a faster connection as well.
Connection speed was initially of no concern to me, except that now I see the advantage.
My old SB4100 was about as fast, or sometimes even slower than ADLS2 .. usually in the 17-20Mb/s range.
Once you have that sort of connection, it's very hard to go back now to the slower speeds.
NBN!!! ... bring it on I say! :th3: ...... not this pissy, half assed, coathanger wire hack job the Libs want to endow us with
(oops sorry... rant over)

Is your cable service with CEPHALPOD, er OCTOPUS, er OPTUS? If so, what plan are you now on?

I upgraded to the 5 billion gig plan .. no wait, it's more like 150G or so.
Apparently my old service was restricted to about 20Mb/s at the server end .. so no matter what modem I'd have used(and you can only use theirs, unless you know how to really hack) it'd have never achieved any greater speed back then. Didn't know this then.
I've been on the Optus cable network since about '99 and had never thought to enquire about it until my old 30G plan became inadequate.
My kids have gotten into this Minecraft game a while back and it seems that they're (both) downloading all these 'maps' or mods or whatever they seem to think is necessary, our average monthly bandwidth has now been approx 25-30G/mth for the past 6 months.
(I have checked their browsing history at random points in the past 6 months .. just to be sure, and they're doing OK.
They don't notice the speed tho as they're using wireless lappies which are pretty much limited.
And with all this I have to give a small tick of approval to the Netgear R6300 router too. I didn't really think it was going to be fully capable of allowing through the WAN port's 100Mb/s to my desktop either.
(I've had issues with older gen Netgear router's WAN port speeds)
