Just thought I would share this, and congradulate Nikon with a well done in customer service.

My recently purchased D600 had delevoped the oil spots on the sensor, at around 2500 shutter count.

A phone call to Nikon and they said no problem post or drop it in and after about 7 to 10 days it would be ready.

Not trusting the post I dropped it off at Nikon at Lidcome and was again told 7 to 10 days. No worries.

Within 24 Hrs they had sent me an email saying it was ready!

Great, jumped in the car and went and picked it up, I thought that they would have just cleaned the sensor, but they have replaced the whole shutter mechanism, as this is where the problem lies.

Fantastic service and very happy to have my camera back before the weekend.

Well done Nikon.

Thanks

Great to hear! As someone who got a d600 yesterday (and opted for the Aus warranty) I am glad to hear this! :)

I love this camera, it feels good in the hands. Now all I have to do is learn learn learn.

It is rather funny eh? I have heard of several people whinging about the oil issue, but if they actually decided to get it to Nikon, it is resolved..fast.

Some people would rather whinge than be pro-active and get something fixed, like you did.

Enjoy your D600

I have a couple of oil spots on my sensor but they are only visible from about f16 and up, and are easily cloned out.

I've contacted Nikon and also had a very positive outcome re fixing the problem.

I agree with Rick, why whine about a problem that is only a problem because you are too silly to get it fixed.

If you've bought grey, you'll have to pay, but that is the risk you take to save a couple of hundred bucks.

Well done. Great to hear Nikon have risen to the occasion, as a potential buyer soon it ticks off another box for me. Now to decide Fx or Dx and which lens combination to go with it. Simple!! :)
