Hi,
My name is Mel and I'm from the western suburbs of Sydney. I am a very amateur photographer but have loved taking photos for longer than i can remember.
I have a Canon 550d and have been playing with that for the last couple of years.
I'm hoping to learn more about photography and maybe make some new friends with similar interests. I'm usually taking photos of my daughter (nearly 2) and family.

Hello and welcome to the forum. It's truly a great resource that's packed with friendly members and the best way to enjoy it is to jump in boots and all and start posting.
Well, Mel, g'day.
Takes a little while to find out how everything at AP works. Ask and enjoy.

Thanks for the welcomes :) i'm a bit unsure about posting in the CC threads but I'll give it a go. My main subject is my daughter so you'll soon be sick of seeing her. Just to clarify as well, i'm not using the 550d, its a kiss X4 - a grey import that was a bargain.
I took a photo for every day in 2012 in an attempt to improve my skills but I dont think it really did, by the end of it I was just happy snapping to make sure i had the photo for that day - and was still using the camera on auto. My goal now is to stop using on auto and start using it properly. I've been reading through the new to photography lesson plan and have started off with the first chapter so hopefully that with the rest of this forum can help me with my hobby.
G'day again Mel.
