Do you like shooting outdoors in summer or winter?

I like the colder winter days the best. I like the light better and most definitely feel more exhilarated with cool days than I do with 30+ hot and humid days.

I get excited with the start of Autumn and the thought of day trips in the car looking for things to photograph. A friend of mine feels the exact opposite, he likes shooting in summer and abhors the winter.

What about you?

I shoot all year round, but the best time in Sydney for me, like you, is Autumn, then Spring, then Winter and lastly Summer as it gets too hot and birds are less active in the day in summer compared to other times of the year. Autumn in Sydney and surrounds is usually such a great time, with the Autumn leaves and the weather is at it's best and generally most settled. Spring is very good, too, but can get windy and unsettled at times. A good sunny winter's day can be glorious and there seems to be plenty of bird activity. Summer can be too hot, but we have had a few of the more mild summers over the last few years, like the 2010/11 summer which was a perfect summer in my mind, plenty of rain, only one day over 30deg C according to the weather bureau.

Hmmm.

Summer...rainforest creeks & falls are flowing, wonderful stormy clouds...only downside is my camera gets rained on, so sometimes simply cannot get out & shoot
Winter (yes we do get at least a week of winter every year up here:D) ....super clear blue skies- CPL rarely leaves my camera, morning mists, perfect camping, kayaking & travel weather . Only downside is I miss having threatening clouds for dramatic monos

I'm on the fence - love both times for different reasons.

Opposite to Matt. Winter and the rainforest creeks and streams are running well, and I can sleep in and still get up in time for sunrise..hehe. Winter for me, though I do love the deep rich blues of the long twilight that summer brings as well, Autumn for its colours and Spring for the new foliage etc. So really each one has its own benefits, and I love them all

Spring for me. Lots of critters out and about :) Flowers starting to come out, etc etc :) Macro season :D Plus the weather is nice, not to hot, not to cold :) Atleast most of the time :D Haha.

Spring is prime time for me because August - September is usually when we go to Europe.
This year we are going to Canada in September and I can't wait.
Autumn, Summer and then Winter are my preference order.

I'm afraid I'm more inclined to get out and about in the summer...............having said that this time of year is my favourite for the quality of light!:):tog:

The light in late autumn/winetr/early spring is much better, and I prefer the cool/cold days myself, hate the heat and humidity. Summer sunrises and sunsets can be very spectacular though, especailly here on the sub tropics.

Said it for me. Autumn is progressing nicely now, and beautiful sights each day. Misty conditions during cooler weather, and new life in Spring, are preferable to me than the heat and haze of Summer.

gets too bloody cold in winter, but plus side - the sun comes up later....

I prefer spring and autumn - the temperature is mild and the light has a really good feel. I prefer winter over summer for sunrises just because I don't have to leave home so early :)

Rick has an excellent point...in winter sunrises aren't quite as annoyingly early :D:D I can really do with more beauty sleep

Each season has it's photographic advantages and challenges.

Definitely Autumn, then Spring, Winter and then Summer. The only thing I love about Summer is shooting at 7-8pm in the evening light. But since I have started shooing sunrises it may change completely
