anyone care to point me in a direction to learn the basics of astro photography?
i.e.
beginners equipment and such?

i dont believe itll be easy, but what in life is easy anyway?

Have a look at this website by Jerry Lodriguss – it is a good place to start to become familiar with some of the concepts, equipment, techniques and other factors.

at the top of EVERY CC forum on AP is a hints and tips thread, for that genre

And you'll soon see that it is a wide field, in both equipment used and techniques. SO as soon as you start let us have a look at what you've got. Not a few people here are into it, too.
