I am a keen beginner! I have always been an avid 'point & shoot' photographer and envied those with a 'real' camera. I recently purchased my own real Nikon D5200 with 2 lenses. I started a short community college course and opened a Flickr account. I have been practicing with aperture settings as well as with some extension tubes for my telephoto lens. I have been really pleased with the results.

Thanks Rick...have spent some time today trying to find my way around the site. I can't quite see where I can upload any photos or is it that I need to make more posts before I can upload photos and send a message to anyone. I have joined the Sydney & Surrounds Group and have had a little look at some of the post on the macro forum. Will also have a good look at the posts in the New to AP forum...looking forward to the discussion.

Hey Bulley66.

Welcome. You won't regret the upgrade to DSLR. With the help of the myriad of digital tools these days it's very easy to look. But a really good photo still needs all those base elements. Knock yourself out and have fun - I'm sure your will.

Yep, the year I was born too and the 'Bulley' part is the name of my dog...really her name is 'Bullet' but she gets 'Bulley' for short...that's what happens when you let an 8 year old name the new puppy! I posted a photo of her today in the beginners section....She is now 12 years old.... very funny looking mutt!
