View Full Version : Computer Crash

Hello everyone,

I am making this post to let you know why I haven't been around lately.

It is difficult for me to participate here very often anyway, as I have 2 jobs, family obligations, and very little time for recreation of any kind. Seldom do I get the chance to take photos at all. When I do finally get that chance, it can take weeks before I have time to process those photos... My life is very complicated right now to say the least. I try to maintain my account here, in the hope that one day my life will be simple again, and I'll have time to do what I enjoy - photography.

To top that off, the computer that I do my photography work on has crashed. My photos are on an external hard drive, not lost, but not accessible to me right now, as I'm using someone else's computer to type this and do other necessary computer activity. I am hoping to have my computer back in a couple weeks.

I hope this explains just a little of why I've not been here recently. I do still wish to maintain this account, in the hope of a bright photographic future. You have taught me a lot in the time I have been able to spend here, for that I will always be grateful.

My last images before the crash:

I do still want to be here, even if I can't be right now.

I hope everyone here is having a wonderful year so far!

Janice

Welcome back, but the 'out of focus' forum will NOT reactivate your account Jan : http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/showlibrary.php?title=How_Do_I:Restore_my_access_from_inactive_status

Thank you, Rick. I have now posted in another forum, but I just wanted to explain why you see so little of me. I do have valid reasons. And I really do wish I could spend more time here.

Hang in there Janice. Time passes and things change.
Maybe set aside one hour every Friday (or whenever, once a week) to visit AP. Make it your time, once a week! Post some CC to stay active, or maybe just look to help keep you interested in photography.
What about spending another hour each week to focus on this years members challenge, gives a reason to go and take a photo, http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/forumdisplay.php?181-Member-Challenges-52-2013

Thanks, Mark, for the encouragement!

My schedule changes every week, so I can't set a day, but I will try to get here more often.

I just checked out the challenge, looks like fun. Got a question though... Once involved, am I expected to participate every week, or can I just come in and out as it becomes possible? Sometimes I work up to 14 days straight, and wouldn't have time until the third week. I wouldn't want to ruin the challenge for others by ducking in and out like that.

Ah, the challenge!! Just drop in and out if it's all you can do and it gives you an interest. Ah the challenge, to post there as often as you can.
The weekly themes have been predetermined, so you can actually prepare in advance. Ah the challenge to knock off 10 in a few days if you think ahead. The list for this year http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/showthread.php?114760-The-2013-Members-Challenge-Weekly-themes

Welcome back.

Three lovely images, but the first one with the seagull is really very nice!

Thanks, Mark, for answering that question! I thought the idea was to take a photo of the theme the week of that theme, and I know I can't do that every week. I will copy the list and see what I can do.

And thanks, Lance, for your kind words! The first photo of the seagull is a rather sad one for those of us on Bribie. - lots of erosion and debris on the surfside beach. The storm was what was left over from a cyclone, it ripped down the Queensland coast. Bundaburg got it the worst. Good news is that Woorim is all cleaned up now, didn't take long, and nature is clearing the rest around the island. I didn't want to risk my camera for too long that day, with the sea mist, but did take a few snaps. The seagull just decided to come out and say 'Hi' right at the right time. :)
