View Full Version : Downloading pictures ?
I have tried to download a photo here and there but I always get the same stupid message saying that it is too large.
So I go back to the photo and shrink it down to 800 by 500 or there abouts and the same thing happens again.
Back to shrink it down again and it will only download a photo that is the size of a matchbox.
And at this size it just isn't worth the time to download.
So if there is any trick to downloading a proper sized photo could someone let me know please.

Do you mean uploading?
You have to have your photo 1024 pixels on the longest side and under 250KB. What software do you use?
I think that you are right as I want to load them to here.
But as for the system I am using I just have my laptop and to that I have no idea to what you mean on this.

I mean, what software are you using to edit your photos? To re-size them you must be using some software. Photoshop, Elements, Lightroom, the Gimp, Paint Shop Pro, etc?
If you can tell us what software we can probably assist re how to resize correctly.
I have got Photoshop Student/Teacher Edition and Corel Photoshop Pro5x.
But I use the Microsoft freeby program to reduce the size of photo's as I am still a long way off on the other ones to do it right.
I just had a look and I have since found I use the Windows Live Photo Gallery.
As it is one what I have got to understand out of them all.

easy in photoshop : http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/showthread.php?14971-How-to-resize-photographs-for-the-Internet
you say you are a long way off using photoshop, well you will stay a long way off, unless you start using it. So resizing is one of the basics of editing, so why not start using photoshop now, even if just to resize your photos. The only way you will learn how to use photoshop, is to use some tutorials and learn. We all started where you are, none of us were photoshop experts automatically.
Putting off learning it, will not achieve a thing. Dive in, learn how to resize as your first task with photoshop
That is very good advice and I will do so and try once more.
Thanks for the helping hand to.

Riddick. It must be BOTH no larger than 1024 pixels on the long side AND no more than 250 KB in size.
Use the "Quality" slider and save at about level 8 or 9 if necessary.
