Me, I'm self taught, so I never really studied photograpers so much as techniques. I think it's time to start looking at some of the best.

I have always liked Jerry Ghionis, jerryghionisphotigraphy.com ( i dont know how to put the link in... sorry !!!) Australian wedding photographer, held in high esteem the world over. He is coming to brisbane for a 5 day "clinic", i would love to attend but at $2500 its not cheap !!!! His site has a few videos to watch as well. If you are a subscriber to Kelby he has some awesome videos on posing and lighting as well.

I can pin it down to a single photo. Werner Bischof - Hungary - crying child. This print was on on a wall in my parents house since the late '60's and is now hanging in my house. Bischof and his contemporaries brought the world to me long before I could venture out into it. He is on Magnum with a few other folks http://www.magnumphotos.com/

I like the work that Joel Grimes does. I know it is very processed but I love that side of the art and although I am not a good artist I do get a lot of enjoyment from processing as well as taking photos.

Picking only 2, I'd go for Julius Shulman although deceased his work is incredible and Simon Carter, an Australian who makes his living only shooting rock climbing and has probably influenced anyone who photographs climbing.

I don't know many photographers, but one I do like is Mary Ellen Matthews, staff photographer for Saturday Night Live. She shoots portraits of that weeks host to use as they come back from ad breaks. They are really colourful and lively photos, and the schedule sounds hectic :-)

Among many, I would have to say Ken Duncan his work is what inspired me to pick up a camera. I walked into his gallery on the Central Coast when i was on holiday in Gosford and I was taken away by his photographs. If anybody here lives on the Central Coast I would highly recommend a visit to his gallery!

An early influence for me was Ernst Haas. A master of color, a master of movement and a master of simplicity.

Ken's business accumen is to be applauded too! I'm on his mailing list, and he is always organising trips to Africa or Antarctia or where-ever and they always include 1 on 1 time with him and coaching. If i had a lazy 15 grand, I so would have gone on the Antarctia trip!

Thanks Rattus79 for starting a cool link, I'll have something to do at work now for the next week. LOL

Honestly, I stumbled upon AP a few years ago, and have always liked Land Seascapes. The first photographer I came across that caught my eye was "William" with his Green tree frog shot. I have tried to mimic Williams work with regard to his seascapes on numerous times, and not got close. So nice and close and Local "William"

Also to add to this is Dylan, his work can be classed as breath taking, and the free information and processing techniques offered are hard to beat, not trying to inflate any egos, just being honest here.

Mary Anne never ceases to amaze me with here Macro work, whether it be bugs or flowers, and Shelly and Richard Hall with their birds.

Albeit for me, they have specialized lenses for their chosen fields as do the Professionals, but I tend to draw my inspiration from people on this site, and admire their work and time put into it.

There's also "Kiwi" and "Richard" that have helped me allot with sports shooting, some of their work rivals the best newspaper or sports mag earners out there.

There are plenty out there, but as said here, I tend not to look no further. I have a couple of Tog mags at home, they can become same same after a while, and allot seem to live off their inflated image of them selves. But meeting and attending a day with Darren Jew (http://darrenjew.com/) he changed my mind to not paint them all with said brush, very level bloke, and a fantastic photographer to boot.
