Photo sizing for a locket - How to go about it?

Hi Team,
Happy New Year to you all.

My mum got a locket for Xmas and wants a couple of pics of her grand kids in it. So of course me being the so called "technology expert" of the family it was given to me to sort out.

So I'm after ideas as to how i go about getting something decent that fits. The locket is an oval shape 20mm x 25mm.

Do i use a home program to resize something? if so what?

Or do i just find a photo shop and take something on USB and ask them?

Think that's the go, though you may have to go to someone other than Big W, hardly normal etc. They seem to not offer small prints, so maybe you'll need to put a really big border on your photo and get a 6x4 and cut the border off.:confused013

You can resize a photo quite easily in photoshop.

Image > Imagesize and then you can resize in pixels, cm's, mm;s, inches and more, using the drop downs.

try and keep the resolution up at at least 150 for reasonable quality print result.

I have used Ricks method as stated to get my kids shots to fit into keyring chains, roughly avatar size, with no problems at all.

Thanks all so far. So if I resize in PS do I then take them on USB to say HN or Camera House and get printed?

I do have an older HP Photosmart 3300 but they seem to fade quicker even on photo paper.

It's all about Dots per Inch or the metric version, the better the printer the better the result. I would try a store that's business is printing or re-producing images, rather than the usual store chain stuff. There would have to be someone in Brisvegas.
