My trusty Pentax *istDL is getting a bit long in the tooth and I thought it was time to upgrade to something a little more current and hands on. I am now the proud owner of a Pentax K30 and I'm working through the manual.

Any tips or pitfalls to avoid would be most welcome.

Cheers

Good advice - I took a couple of shots before work this morning. :)

Hi Dave, I'm looking at upgrading from K100D to K30. What's your impression of K30 to date?

Cheers

As a k5 owner, I can say you're going to love it.

A couple of features that the k5 has that I"m not certain of the k30 having is

Composition adjustment - Using the onboard SR as a faux tilt/shift on any lens. - doesn't allow for much but can help to straighten verticals on a UWA lens - tripods a must

Live view hint - use the info button to zoom in and focus peek before taking your shot.

Green button - great for manual lenses. Sets Shutter to a neutral grey. great for spot metering.

Get out there and have some fun!
