Hi, Have just registered as a member.First post as a beginer with a passion for Bird Pics.Learning used two lenses teles max 200mm and a little frustrated at not being able to get satisfying results.
Did the research on a 100mm to 400mm Canon Tele but going cold as to the shops and some reviews about the disadvantages of push/pull Tele.
Being told to look at the Sigma 120mm - 500mm.
Any body with some assistance or familiar with the lens?
Many Thanks

Hello Tony and Welcome to AP.. Great to have you on board and I will look forward to seeing what you post on the Bird Forum.

I shoot birds with the Canon 300mm L and the 1.4 extender so I cannot help you with the Lenses you asked about..
There are Members who use the Sigma 150-500mm lens the Canon f/5.6 100-400mm L lens and the Canon f/5.6 400mm L lens so you will get plenty of help
Have a read Here (http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/showthread.php?110106-Gear-for-Birding-Advice-appreciated!&highlight=good+lens+shooting+birds)and if that does not give you enough info *It should* then start a post on the Camera/Lens/ Gear talk Forum.

:gday: & Welcome
- lets see some photos in the main CC forums (http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/forumdisplay.php?5) maybe try a competition or 2 and have fun!

The 100-400 is a very well regarded less for birding. Richard Hall uses one.
The Sigma 150-500 is also a good option and more affordable, several members use that lens.
I have the older Sigma 50-500 and get very good results with that.
I know less about the Sigma 120-400, and given length is important for birds, the 150-500 makes sense.
