Hi
I have long had an interest in photography but no time. My photography has been pretty much point and shoot, holidays and kids with a series of cameras with ever increasing MP. But i did have a very early Yashica auto camera as a teenager,my Dad's old pentax with a separate light meter and black white developing equipment in a room with blankets taped over windows! All this a very long time ago.

Now with the purchase of a Canon 60D with EFS 17-85mm USM IS lens I have started exploring photography. My first challenge to understand the features of the Camera.

Now with the gift of a 70-200mm f2.8 IS lens I am hoping to take some great photos. My main interest is scenery/landscape but given my location would like to learn how to take lightening and storm photos also. I am hoping that this forum will help me learn.

Thanks ...so much information to absorb. And I have to say how impressive the photos i have looked at so far are. A little daunting really.
I am off on holidays in a week to WA (Dunsborough and Margaret River). I hope to post some photos from my trip.

Hey Deb, it can be daunting, which is why we offer a beginners CC forum. Members who join up and choose their photographic experience level as beginner (as you have done), have their own constructive critique forum to use for the first 90 days of their membership.

http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/forumdisplay.php?177-New-to-Photography-CC-%28Beginners%29

You are welcome to use the other forums as well, but we created that one specifically so that new beginner members could feel safe posting photos for critique, knowing that other members will see that it is in the beginners forum and not bombard you with to much technical stuff or advanced technique stuff.

Enjoy your trip and I am sure we will enjoy seeing the photos when you get back.

G'day and welcome to AP, D.

...... My main interest is scenery/landscape but given my location would like to learn how to take lightening and storm photos also. I am hoping that this forum will help me learn.
This is a very helpful place, and if you spend some time searching you may find some clues. Anyway, if needs be, just post some questions here ...http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/forumdisplay.php?104-New-To-Photography

An example of help (it's about lightening) ..... http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/showthread.php?112191-My-first-lightening-Storm
Hope to see you (and your photos) around.:th3:
