Hey fellow photographers,
I am heading to Porongurup next week for a 3 night stay. I have not been there before and I would like to get some ideas and locations of where would be a great place for photography. I will also stop by Pemberton for a one-night-stay and hopefully do some fishing!!
I enjoy wildlife, nature and landscape photography. I have not done star trails or much of night photography but dont mind giving it a go!
I am still learning and slowly building up my gears
Gears wise:
Body: D90 and D600
Lens: 18-105mm kit lens, 8mm Samyang fish-eye, 35mm f1.8G, 50mm f1.8G, Sigma 105mm macro and 70-200 f2.8II
Flash: SB-700
And a normal non-branded tripod that got given.
Any feedbacks, advise, must go locations would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!

Both locales have great view and wonderful scenery and a vast array of wild/bird life. I was just at the Stirling Ranges last week, hopefully that fire down in Albany is out, it was very hazy for photography! :th3:
But it's a beautiful part of our state, enjoy your trip!

Been to both locations and they are both excellent areas to explore and photograph.
We walked the Castle Rock trail to the top where you will find some excellent 360 degree views of the surrounding farmland! Along the trail you will be able to easily observe birds such as the Elegant Parrot, White-naped Honeyeater, Rufous Treecreeper, White-breasted Robin, Western Yellow Robin, Striated/Spotted Pardalote, Golden/Rufous Whistler just to name a few of the more special species. :) Just walk slowly along the trails and you will have no trouble seeing these birds. I recommend going early morning or late arvo when the light is best as the light will be on the many beautiful trees and also there will be more bird species out and about.
Pemberton has much the same bird species as the Porongorups. It is an absolute haven for birds of all kinds, you just have to walk through the forest! It is a favourite place of mine and if you make the effort to get up early you will be rewarded. I normally just like to explore the area as much as I can, and I find that is the best way to find cool stuff to photograph. Karri Valley is a great place and the lake there is amazing in the early morning, especially when it has some mist on it! There is also a waterfall located somewhere up that way on one of the walk trails.
Here are some examples off the net of photos taken around Pemberton:

Thanks guys for the great feedback and tips! We got back late yesterday arvo. Spent 3 nights in Porongurup and 2 nights in Pemberton. I cant believe how beautiful both places are and coming back to Perth was like... where are the tall tree, kangaroo, birds and wild flowers.
3-night in Porongurup was too short. We didnt get time to explore Stirling Ranges at all and only did Castle Rock. Oh well, reserved for the next trip! Last night I was going through some of photos. I think I have taken nearly 1K photo (jpeg). Here are a few to say thank you :D

I haven't been to the Porongurups in ages, should head down there again one day. Stirling Ranges are a must see. Throw some of these on the constructive critique forums so everyone can see! Great place!
