:gday:Hi my name is Janet and I live in Western Australia. I loved photography in high school, but resorted to the point and shoot camera, until this year. I was inspired by some photography that I had seen and bought myself a Canon EOS 550D Twin lens pack. I love it and takes amazing photos, but I was stuck in auto mode and to scared to go into manual LOL. I love sunsets and flowers and I'm still trying to master these.

Hi Janet! Welcome to AP! I have a 550D also. You should grab the Nifty Fifty, it's only about $100 and is a prime lens and its so much fun! Excellent learning lens and takes a very good photo for the price. You wont regret it.

Don't go off auto immediately, instead have a look at the New to Photography (http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/showlibrary.php?title=Indexes:New_To_Photography_Book) book and the Learning Plan in the book.
