Dave from Coolangatta here.

Have a D5100 for about a year but only getting interested in photography over the last couple of weeks - seems it took me awhile to warm up to it!

Firm believer in never reading the manual...and slowly finding out I have no choice in the matter!

I joined an American forum a couple days ago and suggested to someone that it's sometimes easier to read bits of the manual, then practise, scour the net, get advice and I immediately got howled down by a couple administrator guys who were basically saying if you don't read the full manual you will never amount to being a decent photographer! So its great to get a less stern finger wagging welcome :)

Nice - just up the road! I don't really know what I am into to be honest. Built myself a lightbox and have been really enjoying playing with that but not really sure what my forte is yet. Have a couple shots I like which I have picked out https://picasaweb.google.com/100169458704234213719 but not sure where I am headed yet !
