G'day everyone my name is Geoff. I am 32yrs old and work afternoons as a Sales supervisor. I presently own a Canon 350d I bought in a kit about 6 or 7 years ago. It has been sitting in a cupboard for a couple of years and now doesn't expose properly?! (Time to upgrade 7d maybe) Which is a shame as the photo bug has bitten and I am dying to get out and get some snaps and with a first child on the way...well lots of photos are a must :) . For the past couple of years I have been so busy with work, problems on our farming property and inlaws family issues and I haven't been able to get out and about, hence the camera sitting in the cupboard, but now things are sorted and settled down BRING IT OWN. I am of beginner status but would like to take it a lot further and do some courses and so on. Hopefully in a few years maybe get a job in photography. I am looking at learning a lot from this site and meeting a few of the people / members.

Welcome Geoff.
Check the settings on your camera, and make sure the batteries are well charged.
It should be exposing properly if your settings are correct.
G'day Geoff. You've found an encouraging place to learn and share.
Here's a free course, thanks to Rick and AP ..... http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/showlibrary.php?title=Indexes:New_To_Photography_Book
Agree with Benny that your camera should be OK. Reckon you'll get some help figuring it out if you start a thread explaining the problem here .... http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/forumdisplay.php?32-Camera-Lens-Gear-Talk
Good luck.
