Wide Angle Lens

After recently having a Sigma 10-20mm lens. Now not working due to it being dropped. Apperture wont go past f/5.6. So am looking at buying a new 1 for doing my landscapes. I am wanting to choose between the Sigma 10-20mm again and the Tokina 11-16mm. What are your thoughts on both the lenses and which one would be the best to buy. I love the Sigma but have seen good reviews and pictures taken with the Tokina as well.

I think the quality of both is similar, and the results seem to be as well. Price point is good to, and competitive between them. If I had to choose, I would go the Sigma. Only cause my two other Sigma Lenses perform admirably. I have had Tamron lenses that have been good as well (but only designed for crop sensors).

So one thing to consider is that if you planning on going to a full frame sensor in future, both these lenses are designed for crop sensor bodies. So if this is a future plan, I would look at something that allows FF use. Though not quite as wide, but still a great lens, from the reviews : http://www.sigmaphoto.com.au/sigma/lens/widezoom/12_24_45_56.htm and being a Sigma DG lens, it will work on FF bodies.

I went the Tokina because of the reviews I read and also the f2.8 aperture. Very happy with this lens. It produces outstandingly sharp results with beautiful colour and contrast.

OK, then you need to assess each lens you are considering for it's FF ability. Sigma use the DG nomenclature to mean full frame lens.
