Hi everyone,
New member here! I have been taking photos for many years from film SLRs to compacts to DSLRs.
It was only after I was given a Canon 1100D last year from a friend did I really start to get back into photography. My father has several older Nikon SLR lenses from the film SLR days, so Canon wasn't exactly convenient, however the camera was simple, easy to use and rewarded well for good shots.
After using a friend's Nikon D700 on and off for several months I recently moved to purchase my own Nikon FX camera - the D800. As a result, I'm pairing it with some good Nikon glass (24-70 2.8) and will be picking it up in the coming days. I'm praying mine doesn't have the dreaded AF focusing issue.. eh we'll see..
Anyway, I look forward to learning more on a photography forum such as this, should be good. I mainly shoot landscapes, more recently beach sunrises with my little cheapo Canon 1100D (which all credit to the camera, it takes a pretty decent shot with some help from Lightroom :th3:). I'm looking forward to employing the D800's superior resolving power and dynamic range in similar circumstances. I love street photography too and will be picking up a 50mm prime when my wallet recovers..!
Cheers!
