I'm not sure if there is better a place for this query but I am sure will point me in the right direction if it isn't

I currently have some film I am trying to finish, it is a standard Fuji 400ASA and when I have finished it, I want to have the negative role scanned

When I have had this done in the past, I just haven't been happy with the digital result, the pictures seem grainy

Is it the film, is it the scanning ?

What should I be asking for when the negatives are scanned

Finally does anyone know of a reliable place to take the film to here in Perth ?

Thank you for any and all advice

ISO 400 film will have a fine grain to it, Remember that film never went anywhere near the ISO's that we have available on digital cameras.

http://www.fitzgeraldphoto.com.au/ used to be the place to go in Perth. If they do not do film anymore, they should be able to point you in the right direction

Ask (whoever you take it to) how they scan it.

It's a negative emulsion, so I would use about 1200 dpi and 36-48-bit depth, depending on intended usage of the results.

If you have any further doubts after that, ask here again.
