Well next weekend I am attending a two day course doing landscape shots. I am going down to Cape Naturaliste, should be photographing some nice scapes, think Sugarloaf Rock is one spot (though I am sure I won't come up with anything new).
I have a tripod, nd grad filter (9 stop), cokin filters. My 5dii and 17-40 lens. Going to buy the manfrotto head 804RC head this week. Take wet weather gear for me and my camera.
Looking forward to getting something and hopefully something worthy to show the landscapers in their forum here :).
Note to self - I will not notice birds, there will be no birds, birds are not on the agenda. I might bird on my way down, oops stop that :).

I am sure you will be fine and come away with more than you expected!

Thanks Cindy and Mary Anne. Mary Anne - birding is quiet, but I am still out and getting some shots. Birding will always be my main focus in my photography pursuits. I want to get some decent shots of the scapes I see when out birding.
I try not to post too many of the same bird - I practise a lot on my local birds and look for anything different.

Good luck with that, Shelley! ;) I hope you have a great time. :)

 Thanks for this comment I laughed out loud!
Knowing you, Shelley, you will both succeed and fail! :p
I have no doubt you will come back with some interesting landscapes to mark your entry to a new genre.
I also have no doubt there will be a bird or three in there somewhere.
Please take your long lens along, despite the desired focus on seascape/landscape photography. Missed opportunities almost NEVER present again in my experience. :th3:

I can see it now. The group all aiming at the sunset..and Shelley..'oh look a bird' and wandering off to..... The mental image gives me the giggles.
Enjoy it Shelley. I hope you learn some new skills along the way, and come back with an understanding of land and seascapes that makes you want to occasionally pursue the genre. Now what is that bird over there in that tree ....

Made me laugh. I could not take a landscape photo if my life depended on it. I am the same as you, 'ohhh look at the nice valley, and look at that spec in the distance, must be a hawk, let's go have a look!!! ' Good luck with the course :)
Just remember 'a bird in the hand...' Good luck with the course. cheers
