View Full Version : Selling images/copyright
An agency has approached me for a quote on behalf of a very large organisation for a price on a shoot, and the copyright of one or two images - for the potential use in local papers, larger papers and any other form of media they wish.
As a predominantly domestic photographer, I'm struggling to put a value on the unrestricted use of my images by a huge company - asking for your opinions here.
To be honest, my initial thought was $1500 - $2000 per image, given the potential exposure and use of them... But I'm sure I'm way off the mark...

If you don't mind me asking what are the images of: Are we talking advertisable material, corporate image, or profile material?
That will change your pricing substantially depending on the applicability (as the business will assess your pricing on a value added basis) - depending on your application you might not be that far off. It may also depend how specialised the images you are taking are?
The client is an agency who will be supplying Panasonic Australia with the images. The images will be of volunteers who wash football jumpers for various football clubs, using Panasonic machines, and will show them hanging washing, carrying big piles of washing to the line etc.
It's for editorial, not advertising, and The client want to be able to distribute the images as they wish.
I should mention that i did forget to add an :P next to the price I first mentioned, have since arrived at a reasonable amount for the job, quote submitted :)
with special thanks to William Long for some valuable tips :)
Id be interested to know ballpark numbers as I was involved in same thing and think I asked too much, pm is fine :-)
