It seems that times are a little tough in the retail camera gear sector as one rather large discount chain is offering some very good deals at the moment in their catalogue.
Well, at least the pictures indicate that you would be getting a bargain.
Surely it would be Hardly Normal to include the wrong images on purpose in the hopes of deceiving people, I am positive that no retailers would ever do anything like that, must be just a slip up in the marketing department.
Still, might be nice to wander down to your local store and see if you can actually buy the pictured items at those prices. :D

Hmm...I need to get my hands on one of those. Then march into a Harvey Norman store, and if they try to argue - just make the point that they do realise they contravened the law in terms of Misleading and Deceptive advertising and that I will take my 50mm F1.4G for 197 now thanks ;). http://www.accc.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/815335

Exactly, The wording does not say which version of the lens and the accompanying photo is 'descriptive'. Would be worth trying..I am sure a word to the franchisee would see them scrambling regarding this catalogue

As a rule I avoid that place like the plaque. Personally I believe that this would be as sneaky as it appears and not a mistake. (my opinion only).

Go into your local store and grab a catalogue from the bin near the door on your way in!

I noticed the same discrepancy on their online catalogue too .. didn't find the Nikon 50mm bargain item, but the D3100 'twin lens' gaff is definitely there :D

But William, their ad shows that you can have one WITH an IS lens for just $39.00 more. :D

That legally makes it even more a problem for them - its not even remotely similar to the image. Going to go in tomorrow and will lodge a complaint with the ACCC just because they need to be held to account.

I am just back from mine as well. Not a single copy of that catalogue to be found in the store, and even the 50mm f1.8 was not on special here.

If I was a Nikon user, I'd be visiting my nearest Hardly Normal store and doing my best to pick the eyes out of their advertised specials.

As alluded to above, if they refused to honour their catalogue prices, I'd be standing my ground and threatening to go the ACA route or whatever

If the mistake is because of some lazy employee not getting it right, well bad luck. As a consumer, you have rights, use them !
